Becoming a member of the Public Safety Chaplain Corp (PSC) is a structured and intentional process. Membership is not automatic and is granted to individuals who demonstrate alignment with the ethical standards, training requirements, and commitment to responsible service established by the organization.
Membership in PSC represents alignment with the mission, values, and operational model of the organization.

Paths to Membership
1. PSC Training Program Students
Individuals who participate in the official PSC Chaplain Training Program become eligible for membership upon successful completion of the program.
The PSC training program consists of:
Level 1 – Foundations of Chaplaincy
Level 2 – Advanced Chaplaincy Training
Final Program Assessment
After successfully completing Level 1, Level 2, and the final assessment, the student becomes eligible to receive PSC membership.
For students who complete the PSC training program, there is no additional cost for the initial membership, as it is already included in the training program.
After the first year, membership renewal will be:
Annual Membership Dues: $129 per year
Graduates must also:
• Agree to the PSC Code of Ethics
• Commit to representing the mission and standards of PSC
• Operate within the institutional guidelines of the organization

2. Applicants with Chaplain Training from Other Institutions
Individuals who have completed chaplain training through other institutions may apply for PSC membership through a credential evaluation and institutional alignment process.
To ensure alignment with PSC operational standards and training methodology, external applicants must complete the PSC institutional alignment program.
This process includes:
• Submission of documentation of prior chaplain training
• Completion of the PSC membership application form
• Credential review
• Completion of PSC institutional alignment training
As part of this process, the applicant must complete:
PSC Level 1 – Foundations of Chaplaincy
PSC Level 2 – Advanced Chaplaincy Training
Final Program Assessment
Investment for the alignment and training process: $450
Upon successful completion of these requirements, the applicant becomes eligible for PSC membership.
During the first year, approved external applicants receive a 50% discount on membership dues.
Standard Annual Dues: $129
First Year for External Applicants: $64.50

Approval Criteria
Membership approval by PSC is based on the following criteria:
• Documented chaplain training
• Successful completion of the PSC training program
• Agreement with the PSC Code of Ethics
• Clear understanding of the limitations of the chaplain role
• Commitment to lawful and responsible conduct
• Willingness to serve within defined institutional boundaries
Membership represents alignment with the standards and mission of PSC.
PSC does not grant governmental authority, law enforcement status, or designation to public office.

Integrity Verification
To maintain credibility and public trust, PSC may conduct:
• Identity verification
• Background verification when necessary
• Review of ministerial or professional references
Membership approval may be denied if the applicant does not meet the ethical or conduct standards established by the organization.

Continuing Education
PSC members are encouraged to pursue ongoing growth in knowledge and ministry practice.
Members are encouraged to pursue training in areas such as:
• Crisis chaplaincy
• Pastoral care
• Ministerial ethics
• Emergency and disaster support
• Spiritual and ministry development
PSC may offer periodic training and development opportunities for its members.

Ongoing Membership Standards
To maintain active membership in PSC, members must:
• Renew their membership annually
• Remain aligned with PSC policies and guidelines
• Represent the organization with integrity
• Serve responsibly and ethically
• Respect the legal and institutional boundaries of the chaplain role
PSC reserves the right to suspend or revoke membership if institutional standards are not upheld.

PSC Code of Ethics (Summary)
Members of the Public Safety Chaplain Corp commit to:
• Acting with integrity in all ministry activities
• Demonstrating respect and dignity toward all individuals
• Maintaining confidentiality in pastoral counseling
• Complying with applicable laws and institutional policies
• Serving with responsibility, compassion, and balance

Institutional Statement
The Public Safety Chaplain Corp is a nonprofit and non-governmental organization.
Membership in PSC does not confer law enforcement authority, governmental authority, or official status within public safety agencies.
Members serve in a voluntary pastoral and community support capacity, within the legal and institutional boundaries of the organization.
