Employees of the Department of Public Safety are often faced with difficult situations that can create emotional, mental and spiritual burdens. These charges affect employees who were involved in the incidents, as well as their families and citizens involved. Police and firefighters and other civil servants generally need to express their frustration and problems to someone who fully understands the circumstances surrounding their duties, without fear of repercussions and with complete confidentiality.

PSC chaplains are in a unique position to listen to public safety officials' concerns with empathy and offer advice and assistance when appropriate. According to the law, when functioning in counseling, communications between the chaplain and the counselees are privileged, and the chaplain cannot be required to disclose the matters discussed. that the details of your conversations with a chaplain will not be shared with anyone.

It is our intention for the Public Security Chaplaincy to provide answers and assistance 24 hours a day to participating Departments and their staff. A chaplain may be called upon to respond whenever there is an incident involving trauma to a Public Safety officer or others, to bring comfort and comfort to the emotionally disturbed.
